Came across a word you don't know? Here, in order, are the terms Domo uses and what each one means.

People

  • Directory — the list of everyone in your church. It's the foundation of Domo.
  • Person — each registered individual: members, visitors, children.
  • Pastoral stage — each person's moment in the church. The stages are: First visit, Visitor, In pre-membership, Active member, Inactive member, Professing minor, Non-professing minor, Transferred, Excommunicated and Deceased.
  • Household — the home a person belongs to; Domo groups it by last name.
  • Professing / non-professing minor — a minor who has made a profession of faith (professing) or hasn't yet (non-professing).

Groups and service

  • Discipleship — a space for formation and walking alongside; can be one-on-one or a small group.
  • Ministry — a serving team (worship, welcome, children, etc.).
  • Leader / Co-leader (group) — the leader (and their support) of a discipleship group.
  • Leader / Co-leader (ministry) — the person responsible (and their support) for a ministry.
  • Target size — a ministry's member goal.
  • Without coverage — the people who aren't in any active group or ministry.

Events and attendance

  • Event — a calendar activity: worship service, meeting, rehearsal…
  • Series — an event that repeats (weekly, biweekly or monthly).
  • Scope — who an event belongs to: the church, a group or a ministry.
  • Attendance — the record of who attended an event.
  • Absence — a person missing an event where attendance was taken.
  • Need follow-up — the people who, based on their attendance, are worth contacting.

Pastoral care

  • Note — the record of something experienced with a person (visit, counseling, prayer…).
  • Visibility: Team / Restricted — who can see a note: the whole pastoral team, or pastors only.
  • Follow-up (task) — something concrete to do with a person, assigned to someone.
  • Tag — a word to classify notes (for example, "grief" or "finances").
  • Care inbox — the list of people sorted by how long since they had contact.

Settings and account

  • Role — defines what a team member can see and do (Pastor, Resident, etc.).
  • Permission — a specific action a role may or may not have.
  • Sensitive permission — a permission that gives access to delicate information; turning it on asks for confirmation.
  • Catalog — the lists you customize (event, group, note types, tags).
  • Plan and limit — your church's plan and the maximum people or users it includes.
  • Trial — the initial free period to use Domo without limits.
  • Notification — a bell alert about something that needs your attention.
